ABOUT

Coach Rodolfo “Rudy” Amoresano

Rudy Amoresano is a former professional soccer player from Argentina, where he developed his game before attending Arizona State University and going on to play in the Major Indoor Soccer League with the Phoenix Inferno. He holds a USSF coaching license and currently coaches in the New York Red Bulls youth program.

Through Amoresano Player Development (APD), Rudy works with boys and girls ages 8–12 in a structured development program — not one-off lessons. His focus is making players comfortable and confident on the ball, sharper in their decisions, and prepared for academy, tryouts, and higher-level competitive soccer. Every player follows an Individual Development Plan built around their ability, goals, and long-term aspirations, and private training complements a player’s club and team rather than replacing it.

The ages of 8–12 are when technique and confidence are truly built — the foundation everything else rests on. A player who doesn’t develop these foundations now will find it extremely difficult to ever reach an elite level. Rudy’s approach rewards effort and commitment above all: he would rather develop a committed player, with an equally committed parent, from a lower starting point than work with a more talented player unwilling to put in the work. Progress is measured honestly, and the game is kept fun.

HOW APD WORKS

A system, not a collection of lessons

We teach. You practice. You compete. You improve.

1

Assess

A baseline evaluation of technique and game understanding.

2

Set Priorities

2–3 clear targets in an Individual Development Plan.

3

Train

Coached 60-minute sessions built around those priorities.

4

Individual Work

A personalized home routine the player owns between sessions.

5

Reassess

Progress re-measured every 4–6 weeks, and priorities updated.

Development at ages 8–12 isn’t linear. We measure progress honestly and keep the game fun.

INFORMATION

The APD Method

APD is a structured development system, not a collection of private lessons. It combines objective technical evaluation, age-based benchmarks, purposeful repetition, player accountability, and consistent parent communication.

We teach. You practice. You compete. You improve.

Each player moves through a development cycle — a baseline evaluation, individual priorities, repetition and individual work, application in team training and games, and re-evaluation roughly every 4–6 weeks — so progress is measured, not guessed.

INFORMATION

A Typical Session

A session is 60 focused minutes built around the player’s current priorities. It blends coached technical work with game-realistic challenges.

A typical flow

  1. 1Warm-up with the ball
  2. 2Ball mastery and footwork
  3. 3The day's technical focus (first touch, passing, dribbling, or finishing)
  4. 41v1 or small-game application under pressure
  5. 5Short review

Players are expected to arrive on time with a properly inflated ball and water, and to give full effort. Between sessions, each player has individual work to repeat what was taught until it becomes natural — that repetition is where real improvement happens.

INFORMATION

Technical Evaluation

Every player begins with an objective technical evaluation, repeated at each reassessment so progress is visible. Areas measured include: dominant-foot, weak-foot, and alternating juggling; inside/outside ball control with each foot; a technical dribbling slalom (best time); passing accuracy with each foot; first touch into a control area; and each player’s signature move.

Numbers are only part of the picture — Rudy also evaluates how a player receives under pressure, scans, competes, solves problems, and applies skills in games.

INFORMATION

Benchmarks

APD uses age-based technical benchmarks (U9–U12) as development references — not pass/fail tests, and not official academy selection standards. They help identify each player’s priorities and show progress over time. Development at ages 8–12 is not linear, so benchmarks guide the work; they never replace watching a player in games. U8 players are measured against their own baseline and their progression toward the U9 targets.
